The Circle Of Life

The Circle Of Life

  • Where was the image taken?
    Skomer Island, Wales
  • Story of the image

While photographing this beautiful individual, I decided to focus my camera on the fish in their beak to offer a unique perspective of the life on Skomer. Perhaps it portrays the harsher side of nature, and how cute and lovable animals like puffins still have to hunt in order to survive. It emphasises the importance of animals such as sand eels in the circle of life, and how they will hopefully help raise a new addition to the puffin’s colony, who may then go on to have young of their own.

I’m Anwen Whitehead, I started wildlife photography at 14 years old, and since then have loved capturing nature in a unique way. I feel wildlife photography has given me a new perspective on life, and I see the world very differently now. I hope to capture the magic I see in nature in my photos, and inspire others to cherish the wonderful biodiversity of our planet
